Overview

Stand Together seeks a Senior Tax Accountant manage 990 and other tax filings as well as handle various state and federal regulatory reporting for 10+ non-profit and for-profit entities. This role will provide the opportunity to work with several internal teams and organizations and will collaborate closely with our accounting and finance teams as well as a vendor in the preparation of these filings.

This role will be working directly with multiple different teams to ensure accurate tax reporting, filing, and compliance. 

Your Responsibilities Include

  • Compile all necessary information for preparation of form 990 and related schedules for multiple nonprofit entities in collaboration and coordination with an outside accounting firm
  • Partner with outside vendor to prepare schedules for multiple for-profit entities
  • Compile, review, and ensure accuracy of data related to tax filings
  • Research and understand applicable laws, regulations and industry standards in order to effectively mitigate risk for the organization and maintain 100% compliance
  • Work with outside accounting firm to understand year over year changes in tax return data and be able to explain variances to stakeholders
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency within the organization

Knowledge and Skills You Bring to the Organization

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting, preferrably with 1+ year working in tax
  • Experience coordinating information across different people, teams, and systems with a high attention to detail and organization 
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with external vendors, team members, and other capabilities within the organization  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Standout Candidates May Also Bring

  • 4+ years of tax accounting experience
  • Nonprofit tax accounting experience
  • Public accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge or experience working with large ERP Accounting Software
  • CPA preferred
