Are you looking for an opportunity that needs your expertise and experience to take an organization’s communications strategy to the next level? Then we hope to consider you for this leadership role on our communications and marketing team.


As a Communications Director we would count on you to develop integrated communications strategy that fosters a national conversation on some of the nation’s biggest challenges so that every person has the opportunity to realize their full potential. You would also be relied upon to develop and coach a team of driven professionals eager to grow their contribution.


This role will work directly  on our Economic Opportunity issue areas in close partnership with Americans for Prosperity, the grassroots policy organization within the Stand Together community.

Your Responsibilities Include

  • Supervise, develop, and work with the media team to develop and drive a communications and media placement strategy from conception to implementation for specific issue areas
  • Create powerful messages, storylines, and public relations
  • Monitor the overall effectiveness and results of these programs
  • Manage internal team and PR Agency partner relationships, as well as program budgets
  • Work with the communications team and teams across the organization to develop multifaceted plans and cultivate communications strategies
  • Increase awareness and brand recognition through various PR and media strategies
  • Coordinate and work with other members from the communications team in executing strategy, which includes digital, research, events, and partnerships
  • Prepare principals for media interviews to help ensure key messages are consistently conveyed
  • Develop strategies to pitch and place work in national, state and local news outlets
  • Cultivate relationships with key media outlets and reporters
  • Develop key messages and draft press releases, and other materials when required areas for improvement and develop systems and processes to proactively address issues


Knowledge and Skills You Bring to the Organization

  • 7+ years’ experience in communications, strategic media relations or public relations
  • Must be passionate about communications and media relations with finger on the pulse of the latest industry trends and can deliver measurable results
  • Must be a strategic thinker with experience conceiving and leveraging relationships
  • Demonstrated strength in building, managing, and motivating high-performance teams
  • Ability to build strong collaborative relationships with a diverse range of partners
  • Excellent communication skills and the proven ability to influence at multiple levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to think ahead, problem solve, engage proactively and take initiative
  • Strong process-minded planner who can determine deadlines, logistics and operational plans for multi-dimensional programs and events
  • Ability to shape and harness qualitative and quantitative research to drive good economic decision-making
  • Strong analytical skill set, capable of analyzing and reacting to results-oriented data
  • Excellent persuasive writing, editing and verbal communications skills, including presentation skills
